"sag mir du erinnerst dich" ist jetzt da

 what a ride

"SILENCED" single out now!

13.11.2025 - after quite some break I decided to release a new single, called "SILENCED"!
I wrote this song two years ago, because of an absurd situation that happened to me:

I was unknowingly banned from performing at a concert venue in Vienna because of a feedback email I sent after several bad experiences (and stories other artists had confided in me) with that place. I never got a reply to that email, and half a year later I found out — because someone else wanted to book me there — that I was banned from performing.

Long story short: thanks to the Vienna Club Commission, my ban was lifted. As ridiculous as this story might sound at first, it really affected me deeply, and at the time I felt very powerless. Unfortunately, I also realized then why so few people dare to speak up when these are the kinds of consequences.
I channeled all that frustration, helplessness, and at the same time the hope for more courage into my song “SILENCED.” The song was also entirely produced by me, which I’m very proud of. I hope that people can find some courage in it — to speak up when something isn’t right. Maybe together we really can change something.

written, recorded and produced by me
mixed by David Wöhrer
mastered by Mathias Garmusch
single cover shot by Michelle Rassnitzer

lyrics:

Catch myself freezing I look at the door
I can figure this out on my own, on my own
Walk with me, take it, or leave it alone
Not expecting to see anyone
Are you in it Are you in it

Look at us some do not try anymore, more
I must say I am glad To be this way
trying to find answers why some us do not try anymore, more
I must say I am glad To be this way

Shut my mouth quiet I look at the door
I can’t take this dead silence no more
No more no more
Now I understand why most of us are tired and don’t say nothing no more
No more
You thought I’d be the same
How stupid of you Of you

Look at us some do not try anymore, more
I must say I am glad To be this way
trying to find answers why some us do not try anymore, more
I must say I am glad To be this way Be this way
Be this way

Thinking you can just decide to shut the door

I won the "MORGENSTERN" preis!!!!!

cannot believe that I get to say this, but two weeks ago I received the "Morgenstern" Price from "Land Steiermark" & "Kleine Zeitung" and I am beyond grateful for that.

In May, the newspaper Kleine Zeitung announced the competition for the "Morgenstern Prize" and thanks to my mom, I applied for it. I honestly never thought that I would get this amazing price, but 1-2 months later I received the amazing news that I was gonna get it.

The jury had the most amazing statement, why they picked me:

Deutsch:

English:
The name itself leads you astray: although Fraeulein Astrid adopts the outdated, misogyny-rooted title “Fräulein,” the subtle spelling change signals that she’s cut from a very different cloth than the Gelsenkirchen Baroque of Hans Moser’s time. The sweet, demure “Fräulein” is a thing of the past; this Fraeulein seems to carry a “Nom de Guerre” of sorts. Yet the battle Astrid Hirzberger fights employs gentle tools in its arsenal. On her 2024 debut EP, My Therapist Says You’re an Asshole, Fraeulein Astrid proves herself a mature musician, composer, and vocalist who, while not reinventing the songwriter genre between electronic and neofolk, breathes spirit into it. This work settles between genre-specific sensitivity, ethereal sounds, and razor-sharp everyday observations, already showing traits of an artist coming into her own, with not a hint of premature complacency.
With her approach and very contemporary artistic strategies (such as social media channels), Fraeulein Astrid has emerged as a true Morgenstern.

Huge thanks to everyone who was involved in the process - receiving this prize means the world to me and as an independent solo artist 10.000€ is a huge amount of money, which I will happily invest into my debut album ahhh!!

"my therapist says you're an asshole" EP LIVE SESSION OUT NOW!

For the past years I decided to step back from music videos, because it was just too much extra work for me, I didn't have the creative head space left or the extra money. But as my debut EP "my therapist says you're an asshole" came out this May, I knew that I also wanted to honor my personal little milestone visually. I have been working on this idea for many months and I am super proud to be finally releasing this video. Many hours of work, brainstorming sessions, talking to people, location scoutings, costume concepts, building doors, looking for second hand toy snakes etc. went into this project and I am very proud of how it turned out. I had this idea of playing every song on the EP while creating a little world for each song. The day of the videoshoot was such a cool experience for me, because I had these insanely talented people around me and my best friends were the sweetest "helping hands" I could've wished for.

The biggest special thanks go out to Chris and Dom for helping me with turning my ideas into reality and helping me with the creative process.
Felix for the mental support, being an amazing drummer and also taking care of the live sound, mixing and mastering.
Raphaela for letting me borrow her beautiful hand sculptures, creating the stunning outfit applications and door applications.
My dad, uncle and Felix for building these super cool doors! BG/BRG/MG Dreihackengasse for letting us shoot in one of their gyms!

MY DEBUT EP IS FINALLY HERE

I cannot believe that this day is finally here. My debut EP "my therapist says you're an asshole" is out TODAY!!!!
I am incredibly proud of myself and every single song on this EP. It features some very old songs (I wrote EXPECTED END 2018 and LOST HOME 2019) and also super new ones from 2023.
This EP shows my evolution as a singer, songwriter, musician and producer. I am insanely grateful for the people that I got to work with on this EP and that have helped me with all the work that comes with releasing music. Especially as a solo artist, it can be quite overwhelming, to do this all by yourself - I am very glad that I've let other people help me - without them I wouldn't have been able to release this collection of songs.
I hope that, whoever listens to my songs, feels either heard, understood or finds a new perception of looking at certain things.

HUUUGE THANKS to Felix, Benno, Paul, Frido, Issi, Marie and Sabrina (RAIN management) and Mathias!!!

I am beyond excited to be playing my EP release shows on the 18th of May in Graz and 23rd of May in Vienna.  Would love to see you there!

You can download (and also donate) to my EP over here:

I'll also bring CDs with me to every concert I play and will have them online soon aswell!

AFTER ALL THERE IS NOTHING REAL OUTSIDE OUR PERCEPTION OF REALITY

This is the third (and last) single I'll be releasing from/before my Debut EP (which comes out May 3rd ahhh!!!!) I wrote this song in November 2022, after I've had my first panic attack (which I realized after that) - I'd just freshly moved to Vienna and some things felt a bit overwhelming to me. This song is for everyone who goes through shitty phases/situations - just make it your "main character moment". At least, this helps me. A huge thanks goes to Fridolin Krenn for co-producing and mixing the song and Mathias Garmusch for mastering it!

lyrics:

It’s your main character moment
Staring out the window
While sitting in a bus in Vienna
On your way home
‘Cause everyone else got too drunk

It’s your main character moment
Standing in a crowded room
At a concert all by yourself
‘Cause no one else wanted
To go with you

This is not a panic attack
This is not the way I had it planned

It’s your main character moment
Getting a cold hearted text from your ex
‘Bout forgetting something
At their place, asking when you’ll pick it up

It’s your main character moment
Sitting at a family dinner wondering
If they’ll ever see you
In the way you would like to be seen

This is not a panic attack
This is exactly the way I had it planned

"NEXT STATION" is out now!!!

This Friday, 09.02., the second single from my upcoming debut-EP "my therapist says you're an asshole" (May 2024) came out. The song's called "NEXT STATION" and is quite the opposite story from "TWO YEARS".

While "TWO YEARS" reflects a past relationship and the opposite person not handling everything too well, "NEXT STATION" is the self-reflecting part, where the protagonist realizes that they weren't the best partner, either.

Big credits also go to Paul Wurm, Issi Schmidt and Benno Hiti for helping me with some of the production, Benno & Paul for doing the mix and Mathias Garmusch for mastering the song! Also big thanks to Felix Paschke for helping me with filming these clips!

lyrics:

I tried to go

I tried to show

What you don’t know

I told you so

I made you cry

I saw you fly

Once I was gone

Who pulled you down

Try to think of a solution

For this fucking situation

As I try to grab your hand while

You get off at the next station

Staring at the well-known faces

Judging me for my dumb choices

Thinking of the many places

I will never

I held you close

That’s what I chose

I felt your pain

Through happy rain

I still don’t know

What you went through

I wish I’d cared

I know you know

Try to think of a solution

For this fucking situation

As I try to grab your hand while

You get off at the next station

Staring at the well-known faces

Judging me for my dumb choices

Thinking of the many places

I will never

my new single "TWO YEARS" is here!!!

I have a new song for yooouuuu!
This one's called "TWO YEARS" and it's a kind of sassy, kind of calm closure-ish breakup song.
Sometimes it takes a little while to realise certain things, that's all I'm gonna say right now.

Big Big credits go to Paul Wurm, Benno Hiti and Christian Schmidt for helping me with some of the producing!
Paul Wurm for mixing the song and Mathias Garmusch for mastering it!

Alsoooo a big thanks to Harald Leitner for taking the original picture and Felix Paschke for for destroying it with me hehe

I also uploaded a lyric video on youtube:

lyrics:
So I run back and I rewind the times
that you were mean to me
When you told me that I would never go easily
And every time I see a social media post
Of how you’re getting so close
To what you always used to talk about

For two years
I wonder why
For two years
I wonder why

Funny to watch you rebuild a van with her
Thinking how I used to be there
I always wanted to help you achieve your dreams
Not realizing the curtains I sewed
Were the last thing I did for you
You closed them when you left
And no one opened them again

For two years
I wonder why
For two years
I wonder why

For two years
I now know why

"THE FOOL" with Candlelight Ficus is out!!

hello hellooo!

I know I haven't written anything over here for a long time, but I promise I am working on reeeeally cool stuff right now and will have some amazing news soon!

But for now I wanna introduce a single, that came out September 1st with the incredibly talented band "Candlelight Ficus"! We actually wrote this song last year on vacation, while sitting on a beach in Croatia. At first it wasn't planned to come out as a feature single, but as time passed we thought it might actually be a cool idea.

We shot the music video at "Die Scherbe" in Graz, portrayed as sad clowns going out for dinner. And let me tell you: it was very hard to not laugh, while looking at Niki with that make up on. This fantastic make up was done by Laura Scalcinati and I couldn't be happier with the result!

a huge thanks also goes out to Simon Reithofer for the music video and to Mathias Garmusch for mixing and mastering the song!
It was a really cool experience to be working on that song <3

lyrics:

i have been tryin'
to get you off my mind
you opened my eyes
now i'm blind

you took me to your desert
then you promised me a treasure
when i gave you all my hands
you let it go
how was i supposed to measure
all the secrets in your pleasure
i can't figure out your game of stop and go

oooh then you took me all the way
pretending that I'll be okay
thought that i would see the day
when I'm finally here to stay

i have been tryin'
to get you off my mind
you opened my eyes
now i'm blind
i thought all along
that i would get out strong
you proved me right
i was wrong

you handed me the cards
knowing i would play the part
of the fool who stands in line
and has to wait
you knew right from the start
i was dancing in the dark
everybody saw
that i was way too late

then you took me all the way
pretending that I'll be okay
thought that i would see the day
when I'm finally here to stay

i have been tryin'
to get you off my mind
you opened my eyes
now i'm blind
i thought all along
that i would get out strong
you proved me right i was wrong

MY 4TH SINGLE "Perfect Life (field recorder version)" IS OUT!!!

well well well

It took me 2.5 years from writing this song to finally releasing it.

I remember walking home from work at the end of 2020, being fed up with this whole social media, corona and being a musician - situation. I felt like, as a person that performs a lot on stage, is very active on social media and in general a happy and outgoing person, people were often assuming that I must be living such "a perfect life". Which might be true in some way - I love my life and I live a very privileged and amazing life. But there's shitty moments too and I felt like I wasn't being taken serious, whenever I felt really sad about certain situations. So as I was walking home from work, I saw people that I knew, but I didn't wanna say hello and pretend that I was fine - so kept my head down and walked on the other side of the street. Instead of saying hi I started writing the lyrics of "Perfect Life" and as soon as I arrived home, the lyrics were finished. I sat down, took my guitar and finished writing the song. At first, it was based on a voice note on my phone. I imported that recording into my laptop and added vocal harmonies and some pianos. Ever since, this song's been very very close to my heart and I very much enjoyed playing it live at every show. One year after writing the song, I decided to re-record the base of the song. So I went to my parents' house, sat down in my childhood bed, took my dad's old guitar and recorded the song on a field recorder. After recording, I added new vocal harmonies and pianos again. I don't know why, but it took over a year and trying to record many different versions of the song, to decide going for that raw imperfect field recorder version. Now, in March 2023, this song is finally ready to go out into the big big world and be released as my fourth single.

At concerts, I use this song to talk about social media and how important it is to be aware that not everything you see on social media, is the "complete truth". That includes myself. Be aware of what you're consuming online. Social media can be an amazing, beautiful and creative place, but it can also lead to comparing yourself too much and even feeling shit about yourself. Be aware of that.

For the single cover I had this idea of portraying myself in a "perfect situation" - like a prom queen or beauty pageant winner. I wanted to show, that even though everything might look perfect on the outside, not everything has to be perfect on the inside. I am very very happy to have worked with Johanna Lea Lassnig on this cover - she's truly amazing and I had a super fun time shooting these pics!

As always, huge thanks go out to Fridolin Krenn, who did the mix & master of this song! Even though it's based on a very raw field recorder version, it was still very important to blend everything together nicely and Frido did a great job (as he always does).

"R U REALLY OK" IS OUT

I am very very excited to be sharing my third official single with you! I wrote this song back in 2020, but put the song away shortly after because I just wasn't happy with the way it sounded. Now, two years later, I decided to give it a second chance - I re-recorded everything, changed the arrangement, added new parts, cancelled other ones and - for the most special part - I added a children's choir. As this song deals with many topics concerning home, I couldn't have imagined a better choir than the one from my hometown; Frohnleiten. I've been part of this choir for many years myself when I was a child and I feel like kids added the last spark that this song needed.

co-produced by Felix Paschke & Fridolin Krenn
mixed by Fridolin Krenn
mastered by Mathias Garmusch
special thanks to Barbara Herzog-Drewes and "Frohnleitner Spatzen" & "Übelbacher Spatzen"

lyrics:
R u really ok
I was just wondering 'cause it doesn’t look that way
Do you feel the same
About the world’s weight on your shoulders
Expectations of
How you’re supposed to look and act
Wanting to be different
But also wanting to fit in

I am back
In my old home
Because I lost track of where I’m from
The world just kept spinning
And everything is going too fast
I am back
To face myself
Because I lost track of where to go
The walls are getting closer
And everything is going too fast

R u really ok
I was just wondering ‘cause we’re going through a lot
Do you feel the same
About not wanting to disappoint your folks
Expectations of
How your future has to look
Wanting to be different
But also wanting to fit in

I am back
In my old home
Because I lost track of where I’m from
The world just kept spinning
And everything is going too fast
I am back
To face myself
Because I lost track of where to go
The walls are getting closer
And everything is going too fast

going too fast
