BUT ART WILL GROW // acoustic version with Riansyah Razali

Well well

I think everyone knows now that I've been travelling around a bit in Southeast Asia blah blah and all that
But not everyone might know, that while travelling we met some super cool and talented musicians. And one of them is Riansyah Razali. We met him when he was playing at Deus Ex Machina with his friend Alex (their duo is called Relax).
One day Rian and I decided to sit together and work on a song - I really wanted to make a different version of my song "But Art Will Grow" and was very lucky when Rian agreed to do it. Working this version out was a lot of fun - we changed some chords and added a little melody part after each chorus and I feel like the whole mood of this song totally changed.
The video was filmed at our homestay by Oscar where we stayed at, but we actually performed this song at two other locations too - one of them was Deus.
I am very lucky to have met these wonderful people and will hopefully see them again one day.

TO THE BORDERLINE

Now, in the middle of July, I am back home in beautiful Austria. But a few weeks ago I was still in Bali and travelling around Southeast Asia.

As a person who uses her music to express her feelings and talk about situations (to herself), I was struggling a bit while travelling, because we weren't able to find a piano. The lucky girl I am, Oscar decided to buy himself an acoustic guitar and I was very honoured to use it too. Most people know that my guitar skills are very limited to basic chords and a few picking patterns, so I wanted to get to know this beautiful instrument a bit more. During playing around for a few days/weeks - this song kinda just happened.

The story behind this song is a little behind confusing as the first verse is about a different situation than the second and third one. The first verse is about not wanting to lose someone, about how horrible it would feel to just let that one person go and "turn your back to" and about how beautiful this life we have actually is.
The second and third verse are about certain people (or let's say one certain person)  whose attitude towards life and life decisions I don't quite understand and I wish this person could see it like I do or at least try to. A person whose feelings I seem to have hurt, because of what I said and how I tried to see the big picture. I am kinda sorry about that but at the same time I am not - it's a very weird feeling so I decided to express it through a song.

Filming this video wasn't a big a challenge as I just sat down and wonderful Oscar filmed the whole thing with his camera. Buuuuuuuuut getting this video up on Youtube was a pain in the ass, because we didn't have a laptop with us. At first we tried getting the video on our phones but that didn't work out. We were very lucky when our "french neighbours" from our homestay, Caroline and Patrice (two of the nicest people I've ever met) offered us to use their laptop. And this is the story about how this video finally made it up on Youtube.

Lyrics:

so sleep in my golden breath
I would rather die a silver death
than to have this picture of you
as a person I've turned my back to

now come running through these gentle woods
and see this world just like I would
as a life we've built with no regrets
where we sleep in our shiny nets

now run
through the borderline x2
now run
through the borderline
and see what's behind

now weep as much as you have to
but realise that it's just stopping you
from daring to make that one step
that could bring you closer to what you've dreamed

now run
through the borderline x2
now run
through the borderline
and see what's behind

I was never trying to hurt you
I was hoping you could see like I do
that we have the power of changing
and turn our backs to what's us trapping

now try
to run to the borderline
to the borderline
now try
to run to the borderline
and see what's behind
