ABOUT ME

In April 2018, after gaining extensive experience as a singer in various band and choir projects, Astrid Hirzberger decided to launch her first solo project under the name Fraeulein Astrid on YouTube. This step marked the beginning of a new musical era — and the starting point of a career that has since grown steadily and almost organically.
Later that same year, she released more videos on YouTube and premiered her first music video at the KIZ RoyalKino in Graz — a concert that sold out within just a few days, despite the fact that there was no official record or streaming release at the time.

Since then, Fraeulein Astrid has performed on nearly all of the major stages in her hometown of Graz — including the Schauspielhaus Graz, Dom im Berg, Kasematten, and Orpheum.
She now lives in Vienna, where she continues to expand her artistic network and explore new musical directions.

In May 2024, she released her debut EP, my therapist says you’re an asshole, which reveals a new side of Fraeulein Astrid: bold, vulnerable, and uncompromisingly honest. Artistically, Fraeulein Astrid has continued to evolve over the past few years. While her early songs were defined by a delicate, natural intimacy, she now experiments increasingly with electronic sounds, layered vocal harmonies, and synthetic textures.
What makes her work distinctive is that she produces most of her music herself, giving her maximum creative freedom and a unique sound that balances between softness and strength, humanity and machine. In her live performances, she plays piano and guitar, accompanied by a drummer — adding a new sense of dynamism and energy to her shows.
Musically, Fraeulein Astrid focuses on one central idea: growth — the continuous learning of new skills, experimentation, and forward movement without settling or repeating herself.

In summer 2024, Astrid Hirzberger received the Morgenstern Award from the Province of Styria for her project Fraeulein Astrid. The annual award honors artists “whose work has achieved significant resonance with audiences and critics in Styria and beyond” — a recognition that celebrates Fraeulein Astrid’s journey so far while also looking ahead to the future.

Currently, Fraeulein Astrid is working on her first full-length album, expanding her sonic spectrum while staying true to her emotional core. She sings in English and German, playing with contrasts: gentle and rough, personal and distant, synthetic and human. Her songs pulse with contradictions — the kind that make you feel seen.
Fraeulein Astrid is building her own sonic universe — one where vulnerability has teeth and every beat breathes resistance.
